it’s going to be funny seeing the face of the local Mitsubishi dealer service department worker’s face when they see my shitter.

considering its for 583,00km on the odo , plus an SRS light that won’t turn off.

583,000 km or 58,300 km? /curious

You must have a smart car, it’s known about the recall for a while now ... hence the SRS warning light. ;)

I saw ‘worker’s face when they see my shitter’ and wondered why you were going to show someone your arse but then realised you must be meaning your car. Lol.

Also a term used for a toilet or someone who talks rubbish.

I get that now. It made for an amusing second or two in my head though. Lol.

Good luck with the waiting. My wife was waiting about 6 months for a recall on her Corolla last year for wiring behind the steering wheel. They took forever to get the parts in to her.

Hopefully with this, because it's so widespread, it will be quicker.

Months, at least 2 or 3

Let them find the pretensioner issue...maybe they’ll fix it under the recall :) :) :)

Unfortunately, I suspect it will be slower due to the widespread nature of the recall. It took 4 months +/- to get the parts for my E46 on the FIRST recall, and I was persistent. I didn’t even get a letter from BMW saying the parts were available until after I’d had it done. So... yeah.

I called the dealer and talked to the same person I made friends with before (no, really - I was always more than pleasant which I think helps) - she said, they don’t even have a waiting list yet. No idea when parts might start to become available. This is on the driver’s side now FYI.

Same here - when the passenger bag was recalled they had parts in stock and I just dropped it off, got a loaner, and had it back in a couple days. Still waiting for the fix on the drivers side too.

Well, guess you may as well disconnect the airbags.

Time for a sweet aftermarket steering wheel!

Hitting your head on a sweet aftermarket steering wheel > getting hit by the Takata M67 airbag.

Having my seatbelt restrain my chest enough to keep my head off my steering wheel > Getting my neck and face ripped open from the shrapnel launched out of my Takata airbag.

That’s a proud mileage ... someone must have treated their car proper. Good on ya’, and good on your ride!

I’ve got this secret belief that most cars would last a lot longer if people actually gave a shit or two. ;)

If you get tired of waiting on the E46 part, you could always just gut it and make it into a race car. Works like a charm. Poof, no more shrapnel bombs!

Do a lot of race cars have 168k miles on them? :P

I’ve thought about that before, but I really like it as my daily driver. I just need something newer and more practical in the future.

Are you kidding? Our Spec E46 has 179k on its original M54B30....but that isn’t really even impressive. I have a friend who just finished a Spec E46 build with a 233k mile engine! Runs like a top! If it dies? Junkyard M54s are $1,000-1,200. Can’t beat the E46 for a budget racer!

What Mitsu you got? 583K km is no small feat in anything, but proper maintenance does wonders...

2004 Lancer 2.0L manual ,put another engine in it @510KM

as it was using more oil than the Exxon Valdez could leak.

Nice! Tis ok, we needed a new engine in our Ody after only 120K because we put too little oil in it...still, ran for nearly 5K miles with only a tiny bit of oil...I think we escaped the Takata recall though, probably for the best...

i ran mine nearly out of oil once , they went to change the oil pan (sump plug was stripped) expecting to get covered in oil , but there was just a cupful in it.

Oh...ours clattered away for a long time and my dad thought it was just overdue for a valve adjustment, but when he took it in there was oil residue basically caked everywhere...it took them a week but we got a nice 60K mile J35 in there and after that my dad has since religiously checked the oil in our three cars because I think he didn’t account for extra oil consumption previously...since then the Honda dealer has treated us like royalty though, so I guess it wasn’t all bad...
